Hi I have just purchased Adria Action PH 341PH caravan, It has an emove motor mover installed. But concerned about the ground clearance.
Currently 4.5inches
Was hoping to replace tyres to increases this: Currently it has the following tyres: 185/65/r14
Is it ok to change to any of the following size tyres: 185 / 75 / r14 -
I have worked out this should increase my clearance by 18.5mm (185x0.75=138.75 , 186 x 0.65 = 120.25) difference - 18.5mm (0.73inches
or If I used 185 /80/r14 - would get 28mm extra. (1.1 inches)
Either case I would have to adjust the motor mover.
Are my calculations correct and can anyone recommend what tyres to use to use or whether to go for the 75 or 80. ???
I don't i have space for a wider tyre so will have to stick to the 185.
Any advise would be most appreciated.
Thanks Denis

Caravans have a very limited clearance between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch. Possibly just enough to slide your fingers in between the 2 surfaces.
Increasing the tyre size will run the very real risk of the tyres rubbing against the wheel arch and doing untold damage.

Thanks for your reply, double checked the space between the current tyres and wheel arches - closest point is 2.5 inches (65mm). So if i went with the 185 75 r14 should still have 1.77 inches (46.5mm) between tyres and wheel arch. Does this sound ok?

Only Adria can answer this but I doubt they will approve the idea. Only they know the clearance needed and getting it wrong could be fatal.

It all depends on how much clearance between tyre and wheel arch is left when the suspension is on full bounce. I think only Adria can answer that.

Thanks, I have got an opinion from a guy who worked for adria and he says i should be ok as there is a lot of clearance on the adria action (3.5 inches at the top. But will go for the 185 / 75 / r14 and not the larger tyre. This will still give 2.75inches clearance from tyre to top of wheel arch and give be 0.7 inch extra ground clearance.
