indicators dont flash

Having just had a towbar fitted to an 07 ford focus when the van is connected i go to indicate and they dont flash, but if i give the the indicator stalk a quick flick and then all the way to the normal posistion they indicators will flash as normal. The caravan is a Buccaneer elan 14 1993 not sure if the fault is on the van or on the car any ideas would be welcome

You should report the problem to the fitter who installed the towbar and the electrics.

Either they will have an explanation for it or they should investigate and fix it.

The fitter is obliged under the Sale Of goods Act to ensure they complete the contract to an acceptable and working condition.

the focus should be fitted with lane change indicators where a soft touch on the stalk only flashes them three times and a full push works as normal. The wiring is probably not wired into that function.

Thanks for your replies as far as i know the fitter tested all the lights on a light board before he went i suppose i need to test it on another van to see if its the car or the van.Further investigation me thinks

Hi Simon, your problem may be that your fitter hasn't used a Ford wiring harness but tapped into existing wiring. Don't know whether it's a good thing or bad thing, but car wiring keeps getting more and more sophisticated.
