Installation of CD player help please

I want to install a 12v car cd player into my Bailey Ranger 550/6 2006 Reg. I have installed car cd players before but is it any different in a caravan. ANY advice would be welcome.

I have installed a cd/radio in our previous Ranger but not yet in our 550/6. It was fairly straightforward you just have to find a 12v fused supply and a negative. If my memory is correct the negative is coloured white, and there was a spare fuse in the board. Then it is just a case of running the wires and cutting a hole for the radio. I used the status ariel on the roof for the tuner, there is plug on the bottom for an fm output.

If you've installed one into a car, then you'll have no problem.

Basically you'll need a live feed from the battery, an earth wire taken from somewhere on the chassis, an aerial, and speakers.

Always put a 3amp fuse between the battery and the radio, even if there is a fuse on the radio itself. Fitting to a caravan is much simpler than in a car, because you can see what you're doing better. A proper earth will ensure good crackle free reception and performance.

Personally, I'd buy a DIN loom with the wires already attached which will plug straight into the back of the set. It's then a simple matter of joining the correct wires to the appropriate feed/speaker/earth etc.

I've fitted one to a Jan 2006 Ranger 550/6 - it took about 5 hours, the worst bit was putting the speakers in, I used the template in the speaker kit marked the panel and slowly drilled out the holes making sure that the panels was not damaged, I fitted as follows:

X 2 speakers under the bottom bunk and boxed in

X 2 speakers by the front lockers (one each side)

The stereo was fitted using a plastic tray under the cupboard above the TV / fridge.

The FM Arial was connected to the Status Arial (spare port) box inside one of the lockers.
