installing an inboard water tank

I have done this a few times on caravans but prefer to fit underneath to avoid risking leaks inside.

Basically I just remove the pipe from the external pump feed to the taps and use the pump outlet to fill the tank.

The pipe to the taps is then fed from the tank outlet via an inboard pump.

C A K of Kenilworth do a lot of tanks/fitting/float valves etc and are very knowledgeable

I found on-baord tanks a mixed blessing - difficult to clean and fill sometimes. For my last van, I "made" one using a 25litre plastic jerrycan in the front locker with a second pump connection unit (Truma Carver sell them as winterising units). This could be removed for cleaning, and was easy to fill using 8litre ex mineral water containers. Despite having no insulation, we never had any prorlems with freezing in very cold weather.
