By trying to hire out your caravan you are in fact running a business. You would need to find a business insurance policy.

However there are some other issues you should be aware of. Your caravan needs to be certified as safe with both a gas compliance and electrical certificates. You should also have evidence of proper servicing for the running gear.

Do not underestimate your liability to your hirer.

If you hire out as an income idea you are as the Prof says running a business and need to do what he says. Frankly if it is for one caravan I doubt it is worth the effort. Not only is there a lot of expense involved in insurance and providing evidence of maintenance you would have to meet returning hirers, check and clean the caravan when it is returned and deal with any damage and demonstrate it to the next hirer which will involve a lot of hassle.
