Eight years ago we bought a Trigano Vendome trailer tent, which we loved but found it took too long to set up and set down.

Five years ago we bought a Swift Challenger 530 caravan (end bathroom) which we towed with a Seat Alhambra petrol - on paper it was a pretty good match but in practice it wasn't great in a head wind on a long slope. We burned out the clutch on our first attempt to put the caravan into the storage pitch and the clutch was going again five years later, alerting us to the fact we needed a better tow vehicle. We have now bought a Hyundai Terracan diesel 2.9 litre engine.

In 2003 our son was born and wnet on his first trip in the caravan at eight weeks old. The side bunk worked well at first - carry cot on the bottom bunk at first, then he slept on the bottom bunk with an extra long bed guard. However he hates having the curtain pulled round him at night (who can blame him!) which made it a little difficult for him to settle with us making drinks and playing board games. He loves caravanning and is eager to help daddy with filling the aquaroll and emptying the wastemaster.

We are waiting excitedly for delivery of brand new a Bailey Senator Virginia - due middle to end of next month.
