IR/motion sensor on awning light

Has anyone fitted an IR/motion sensor wired to their (12v) awning light? I think that this could be useful when returning to the van after nocturnal toilet trips or taking the dog out last thing at night. It would also prevent the light from being left on all night and would be a useful security measure.
Any advice re fitting, sourcing kit, etc gratefully received.
