Is a Jaguar towbar alko compatible?

I'm considering buying an X-Type Jaguar 2.2D Estate fitted with a standard Jaguar (Brink)towbar,(Detachable). The Jaguar dealer cannot tell me if the system is compatible with an alko towhitch/Stabiliser which is fitted to my van. The Brink/Thule and Jaguar website do not have this information. I am not a member of the Caravan club so cannot raise the question on their forum. The system will probably be OK, but it would be nice to have a definitive answer from a Jaguar owner for piece of mind.

Thanks

Ron

You say that the towbar is detachable so it will be a swan neck type. All swan neck towbars are compatible with AlKo stabilisers. It is only the bolt-on towball type where one must check compatibility first.

I had an S-Type Jag with a detachable towbar and the ALKO head was very close to the bumper when attached. It did not actually touch but I had to be very careful when hitching up.

In view of the fact that towbars on non-commercial vehicles on the Continent are almost exclusively of the swan neck type and Brinks/Thule are a Continental manufacturer, I don't think one should have anything to worry about as they have to cater for conditions on the other side of the Channel, too.
