Is it possible?

The problem sometimes faced when starting a thread is that occasionally it can get crossed. Then you have to withdraw and start again, or else go off fishing. Now that’s a way to spend time and relax.

I find that drift, within reason, adds to interest and diversity, which can develop into broader answers which can be very useful to the OP and readers in general.

But if the OP, phrases their query in very specific terms, then they deserve specific, and ‘to the point’ answers.

Is it possible to start a thread ,and let it run its course without the intervention of Mr. Drift 🤔
This is a forum where all members can contribute to all threads. Moreover the main contributors are old hands on the forum and have got to know each other one way or another so the forum can develop a flavour of “Blokes down the Pub”. In this circumstance thread drift becomes almost inevitable. Sam and I do intervene when threads become completely hijacked or the thread drift becomes argumentative. However if we intervened at every bit of thread drift then we could be in danger of over moderation and stifling discussion.
Perhaps you would all like to discuss how much intervention you would like from Sam and I. We are hapy for some constructive feedback.

I am very happy with the moderation that you and Sam provide as when necessary it’s a light touch approach, but can become more firm if required.

How many poachers does it take to make a Haggis?

BTW: I once tried vegaterian Haggis - it put me in mind of the bottom of a hampsters cage - although I confess I've never tried that.

Have we drifted enough in this slow season?
