Is my battery past it?

I'm having probs with my battery. I use a powertouch mover and when I put the battery on after charge it moves ok then seems to die on me it starts juddering and the little green light on the hand set flickers!
I've put a new bat in the hand set and made sure the arial is clear of obstruction in the van.
How old is the battery?
Don't know...at least 4yrs proberley more.
Advice please guys!!!
