Is there a 'classic' or 'vintage' year for Sorentos

Thinking about getting a used Sorento Diesel Auto - 4/7 years old. I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the 'experts' reckon that 2006/8 were the best years for them. Am I mistaken? Which model should I be looking at and what extras?
Incidently, does anyone else have trouble using the search box on this forum? If I type in any query, I keep getting a message telling me that I need 'one positive keyword with 3 characters or more' Whatever that means. Mind you, I'm pretty clueless with modern technology!

The 2003-2009 Sorento was "body-on-frame", ie heavy with big engines that would lug all day and a low range transfer box as well - a real tractor, not for me but very well liked by it's owners and much lamented when they replaced it with a lighter, relatively, model based on the Hyundai Santa Fe in 2010 which had a lot more power, better economy and better ride/handling IMO.

I had an 04XS auto with 138bhp and SL suspension it never had a fault in seven years. In 2006 (I think) the engines got a bit more power and minor suspension changes but were otherwise not changed very much. Steer clear of low profile rims as the ride is harsh. Smaller rims also allow better off road capability; mine went out on Salisbury Plains ByWays frequently. Otherwise most years from 04 onwards are good cars and it depends on your budget and cars history. Make sure it has FSH but it need not be Kia as I found the local MD appalling so used a trusted independent. Mine sold in 2 days from trade in and around here the asking prices are probably being achieved as good Sorentos don't hang around for long. Good luck.
