Hi.

We have never come across this sort of thing either, we found that if you required any help then other caravanners would just turn up.

Regards ob.

peter, we to have only been caravaning for six months and i must say we have never experienced anything like this - the last time we went out someone even offered to help us dismantle and re-erect our awning as they said "you`ll get puddles on your awning roof if you leave it like that", another time my youngest wandered into someones caravan next to us and started playing with there taps, when i appologised she said "dont worry its nice to have kids around" and even offered to cook him tea...........

Peter,

after reading your Posts i can now see that you should have waited until it had stopped raining before you attempted to put the awning up.

Bit like hanging your washing out whilst it is Thundering! Most people are gouing to think:- Why is he doing that?

On a lighter note, most people are generally VERY helpful.

Now where did i put my brolly and lightning conductor?

Darryl

Shame really about wales, because theres not much wrong with it besides the b---ends it seems to attract.

We had the mispleasure of staying at a site in northwales nearly two years ago.We were woke up in the night with two caravan loads of women knocking hell out of each other in the awnings ,the husbands it seems stayed in the caravans.Obviously i stayed and watched,it was very entertaining and enjoyable to see.But what was better was the next day these little fat b-----ds seemed to have the faces stuck to the ground and would,nt look at anyone.THE SHAME

That's interesting Peter, about three years ago we (both in our 70's) arrived at Le Logis de Breuil near Royan where a Rally of members of a rather well known Club was in progress. We started to put up our awning in gusty conditions and were having a bit of a struggle. We were watched by quite a few of said Ralliers from the various deckchairs and loungers in our immediate vicinity. After some time a retired Paris taxi driver and his wife (both in their 70's) came along from their van and proceeded to help us with the awning.! Job done in 20 minutes.Esprit de corps!! Or as they say in France, Esprit de corps! Not being a member of any club we felt rather like outcasts but we enjoyed the friendship of the lovely French couple.
