Isle of Man crossing from Heysham

Hi folks!

I am going to the IOM in May with the 'van (I have received my permit) and I will be crossing from Heysham on the ferry. Now, one thing I forgot to ask before purchasing the ticket was how will I be loaded on? I am 99% certain the bow does not open, so you enter from the rear and leave from the rear. Therefore am I going to have to reverse on or turn around inside the deck? Any help appreciated from those who have either gone here or been in a similar predicament on some other crossing!

Thanks in advance - Toby.

Hiya,

I don't have the answer but i'd be interested to know where you're staying and how easy it was to get the permit?

I was born there and keep thinking about going back for a break, although the ferry prices keep putting us off!

Hi Toby. I haven't been on that particular crossing but have been on belfast-birkenhead with the caravan. On every occasion they load the caravanners first so there is plenty of room to turn around on the car deck and get parked properly before loading car drivers. I presume that will be the case with your sailing. Hope this eases your worries! Emmy
