I tow with a Monterey (Trooper under another name). It's also an automatic but with the 3.5 V6 petrol engine. I've had the car for almost 6 years now and it's been a most reliable tug. I'll check the weights etc. when it stops raining and I can go out to the garage to get the owner's handbook out of the glove box.

Hi John

There is a good owners club for these vehicles. Try "Googling" Isuzu and you will find it.

Such a club will be an excellent source of useful info etc.

According to my owner's handbook, the LWB 3.1TDI automatic has a kerbweight of 2005kg. I can't imagine that your car can be very much different. The max. noseweight shown on the towbar is 120kg.

we have got a vauxhall monterey m reg 3.1td the same as a trooper and we tow a avondale dart 556/6 1300 max towing weight.

the avondales are nose heavy but you cant even feel the van on the back and it still does about 26mpg with the van on or off. i think its about 1800maxon yours with the 85% but im not 100%.the trooper would pull a house.i hope this helps.

Sorry , Thanks for your comments, has anyone towed with this Vehicle
John,

The 3.1 Bighorn/Trooper is the ultimate towcar for me - tried Range Rovers, Shoguns and powerful FWD's - nothing comes close! Don't worry too much about towball or caravan weight, they will pull anything. The engine is a real slogger and if looked after properly will last for ever. Good choice! I expect to be using my 96 model until I have to retire from vanning
