It defies any and all logic!

This is so true we should all yell very loud about how little common sense there is in Management and Governments.

Me at the Supermarket:

Why is there plastic on the payment keypad?
Cashier: to protect people from Covid.
Me: but isn’t everyone touching the plastic keypad the same way they would the regular keypad?
Cashier: no words. Confused look.

Me: Why Don’t you pack the grocery bags any more?
Cashier: Because of Covid -19 to reduce the spread of catching or spreading the virus.
Me: But a shelf packer took it out of a box and put it on the shelf, a few customers might have picked it up and put back deciding they Don’t want it, I put it in my cart then on the conveyor belt, YOU pick it up
to scan it… But putting it in a bag after you scan is risky??
Cashier: no words, confused look

Me at the drive through:
Server: (holds a tray out the window with a bag of food for logical friend to grab)
Me: why is my bag of food on a tray?
Server: so I don’t touch your food because of Covid.
Me: didn’t the cook touch my food? Didn’t the person wrapping my food touch it and then touch it again when placing it in my bag? Didn’t you touch the bag and put it on the tray? Didn’t you touch the tray?
Server: no words. Confused look.

Me in society:
Society ; If you cough or sneeze do it in your elbow or sleeve,
Also society : Don’t shake hands or hug anyone or you will spread the virus.. To greet people do an elbow tap instead.
Me : Elbow tap ? Isn’t that where you tell people to sneeze or cough? into their elbow? Now you want people to tap each other with that elbow wouldn’t it be safer to sneeze into elbow and shake hands like we did before Covid

Me at a restaurant:
Hostess: OK, I can seat you at this table right here (4 feet away), but I will need you to wear a mask to the table.
Me: what happens when I get to the table?
Hostess: you can take off the mask.
Me: then it is safe over there?
Hostess: yes.
Me: are those fans blowing above the table? Is that the air-conditioning I feel? Is the air circulating in here?
Hostess: no words. Confused look.

Me in society:
You are not allowed to stand and drink at the pub you have to sit down.
But at the shopping centre you are not allowed to sit down, all the chairs are roped off.

Who thinks up these rules?
Life is hard for logical people right now. We are being raised without the ability to process and execute logic. I can’t take the credit for this as I copied & pasted it – but thought it just sums up the current restrictions so well.

Absolutely nuts! Whilst Australia and America closed their borders they seem to have enjoyed some of the highest infection rates. Who the heck comes up with these mad cap ideas🤪🤪🤪
Good one Buckman👏👏

Priceless, but so true. In the news yesterday, they appear to be thinking that plastic screens in some circumstances are making it worse.

You know I've lost the will to check numbers now. At first every increase was noted and depression gained another inch. Thankfully, in spite of everything, it does seem we are moving in the right direction.

I haven't followed closely infection and death rates in many other countries - mostly been amazed and delighted with NZ and a few other places who locked down early.

Had no idea that Australia had "enjoyed some of the highest infection rates" after closing their borders.

I've just kept an eye on simple numbers , for example UK total cases nearly 6,000,000 with over 130,000 deaths. Australia 34,000 cases and 923 deaths. Populations 66,000,000 compared to 25,000,000.

Apologies John. I misread yesterday’s paper! Edit Aus and say even with borders shut cases have started to rise.

Doesn't Australia have the lowest vaccination rates of any OECD country? Plus their useless/bent government has bungled everything else, so why wouldn't they bungle the quarantine of lawful international arrivals who could be infected?

This all goes to show how making plans to travel abroad is fraught with complications and uncertainties - and the picture is changing on a daily basis.

Just becasue you have been vaccinated does not mean you are welcomed everywhere, and even after being vaccinated you can still become infected without symptoms and carry new variants back into the UK or on a smaller scale back into your own homes and infect others.

This is global matter and whilst its great the UK and few other countries have done very well with vaccinations, nowhere is there 100% cover, and as individuals we must consider how our actions might affect others.

Covid is here for good, but provide the world can effectively spread the vaccination, C19's impact will reduce and it will become no more of a risk than influenzas. But whilst there are still significant numbers of people who refuse to have the vaccine, the virus has teh capacity to continually spring surprise vartients on us that might circumvent the effectiveness of the present vaccines.

Covid complacency is becoming a major issue as anti viral social distancing and measures are seen by some to be nuisance and are often prematurely discarded - until they they get infected. Its tempting to think it serves them right ( and it does) but the greater risk is they may mutate the virus and it might just be the one mutation that overcomes the vaccine and re ignites the whole infection process again.

Ultimately we will find ways to live with the virus, but it's some time off yet.
