It's Started!!

I have to admit that it's been slightly later this year but it had to happen pretty soon.............Fireworks!!!!!
Perhaps the general shortage of readies has delayed the early letting off of these overly loud random explosions but there were a few being let off round our way last night

Why can't they leave them in the box until Bonfire night?
As it happens we're off to a bonfire rally from tomorrow for a long weekend which will culminate in an organised firework display on Saturday night so in one way we're just as guilty.
We're back on Sunday just in time to be disturbed by the little darlings who incessantly knock on our door all evening to demand money with menaces under the guise of what was once Halloween but is now called trick or treat

Roll on Christmas, all we have to get through first are a couple of months of manic tv adverts banging on about it morning, noon and night!!

They can sing till their hearts content this year because I will be away in the van

We've had one firework so far and like you are surprised at the lack of them this year. No doubt once they start they'll carry on into the new year

As we have dogs it is easier to stay at home as most caravan parks seem to be having fireworks in their vicinity. At leasat in our village very few people let off fireworks. Hopefully it will be raining anyway. Still cannot understand why the British celebrate or honour a terrorist by naming a day after him?

November 5th was originally a celebration of a 'joyful day of deliverance' from 1605 onwards when bonfires we permitted to be lit to celebrate the Kings escape from assassination at the hands of the catholic conspirators and an effigy of the Pope was originally burnt on the bonfires.
5th November was a day of thanksgiving and as time went on the effigy of Guy Fawkes replaced that of the Pope as the catholic hate figure which was burned.
It's not a great time of year for dogs.

There have been fireworks all evening round here and there's no sign of them calling it a night yet.

Hi Sproket, yes ,I saw that film some time ago. All I can say is I think a Tesco would be more use than the wonderful sandstone building we call the Houses of Parlaiment.

As an off thread comment, John Lewis Store in Solihull had all their Christmas decorations up before the end of september!

Been out tonight on the front lawn with Buddy (doggie) he was facinated watching the free firework displays, it is his first year with them and as with previous dogs always try and make a man out of them by introducing them to the different noise's etc.
Mind you it did'nt work with a previous german shephard we had, he use to wrap himself around my neck when I sat on the settee
