Hi we are thinking of replacing our tow car with the above.. It is automatic petrol and has with a BHP of 238, It has a nose weight of 75kg and is a very good drive. Our caravan is a Lunar Clubman SI 2014 MTPLM of 1470kg. We have towed for over 30 years. We are aware of the low nose weight but for the two of us it should not be to much of a problem . It will need a detachable tow bar fitted. We cover about 5000 miles a year of which a maximum of 1500 would be towing. The rest of our driving is around town 2 to 4 miles a day. We have a diesel at the moment good when towing but not around town and we keep having ERG problems etc with such short miles even if giving it a good run from time to time.

Any thoughts good or bad would be appreciated.

I have a 2011 xf 3.0d and tow a bailey senator with a max weight of 1500kg. It rows no problem at all. Never had a wobble even in bad weather. Love towing with the auto is so much easier. Make sure your xf has the reverse camera option. Rear 3/4 view is not good anyway but the camera is fab for hitching up the van. Get the witter detachable towbar. Its almost invisible when removed unlike the brink jaguar version which leaves a lot of ironwork on display. I fitted my own towbar and electrics using a plug and play loom from pf jones. Easy enough. Then a specialist did the reprogramming which turns off the reverse sensors and fog lights with the van connected. Not sure if other systems are also effected. Great car I've had no issues.

Hi and thanks for your replies. Glenno is your XF a petrol? I will have to arrange the fitting of any tow bar and electrics as I am not up to that sort of thing and its not something to get wrong! Thanks for your advice on which tow bar my wife would certainly not wish to see it when not hitched up! I am likely to use Towbarexpress anyone used them good or bad?

No mine is diesel. They do 2 power outputs in the 3.0 diesel. I went for the higher 275hp 600nm torque version. It's effortless, even with the van on the back. I do enough miles to avoid the egr and dpf gremlins.
