June Caravan Club Magazine

Anyone read the CC Road Test of the VW Golf PLus in this months Magazine?

CC got wrong again, the pictures are of a standard Mk 5 Golf not a Golf Plus! So what car did they test? Also the CO2 emissions are given as 159g/km, but the Government website gives the emissions for the car they tested as 165g/km.

So can you really treat their "Tests" as genuine?

Can you believe any test in a caravanning magazine, they always give the impression that a junior journalist has written them directly from the manufacturers sales brochure without even seeing the car/caravan/whatever.

When car magazines road test a car, they cover about 1000 miles which is about 1 months normal use. Caravan magazines should adopt the same principle. It that makes it too expensive then they really shouldn't bother.

A "product test" should be independently informative to consumers - it shouldn't be promotion for the manufacturer / retailer - oh, but that would curtail the advertising revenue!

The Caravan club magazine is poor .Its editorial content is week .

Its touring articles and site visits are so vague and badly written that if they were submited by a school boy they would not receive a pass mark .

The tests they do on Caravans or Cars are wishy washy that its hard to come to any conclusion as to the quality of the tested atricle.

I get the impressiom that the Caravan club magazine has a week editor and as such the staff he employs are of similar calibre .

Dont get me wrong i think the Caravan club is a fine organisation and well worth the annual subscription .

But the magazine is week. Its purpose should be to champion the needs of the caravan club members ,not cowtow to the advertisers

If you do write to them I bet it does not get published, a friend of mine has written on many occasions, but any letter that decries the club or anything to do with it as a whole does not get printed, he has proved this many times,
