Our Gracious Royal Woosie King Sproket has excelled himself and found me an unused brand new Kampa on ebay.
I contacted the seller direct and did a deal. The bargain of the century.
Now I have to sell the Isabella Magnum Porch with carbon x poles. Ebay I guess or may try PCv.

Thanks again King Sproket.
You are serving your subjects well :) B)

Isn't there something about not coveting thy neighbours possessions? ;)

or is it keeping up with the Joneses?

Maybe when our 3 year old porch awning gets to about 10 years old we may think again.

Who's Jones Graham.
It's about old age and extra weights of poles etc. Plus SWMBO can rest easy while I erect the thing alone, I think that's what I was told :p

Good look with your first erection   :silly:

Yesterday afternoon my 330pro air Kampa was inserted and erected by myself

The main thing is to make sure that it is fully open and in a pile so that the insertion goes easily

It takes longer to get it in :S than it does to erect it ;)

Just returned from one of he worst weeks for weather . Been at Bleak Low near Glossop. We had gusts of 86 mph and torrential rainfall.
We were convinced the new Kampa would blow away ! If only we had taken the Izzy!
However our worries were ill founded. The Kampa withstood the test even though I could have erected her better, Thank goodness for the storm straps.
She's currently drying out in the conservatory awaiting further use at Christmas.
With some advice from his Royal Woosieness I can thoroughly say the Kampa adds another dimension to awnings. If she stood up in what I 've been through she'll stand up in anything.
Would I buy one again? Most definitely yes :cheer: B)

Ours has been up since the weekend after the Woosiefest ( 9/10/2015 ) i will have to take it down in a fortnight to bring the van home ..... if it had been a normal framed awning after last weekend it would have been destroyed ......
The secret appears to be the pegging and the air frame. ....
Long pegs to hold it down and the air frame to allow it to flex...

Would i recommend them .... YES !

We have got a Star camp magnum air weathertex awning to go with our Adria and I must say that I think that it is brilliant. It is a large porch awning really but it goes the full length from just in front of the door to the back of the caravan and doesn’t obstruct any of the windows. It takes very little effort to put up (except perhaps going around hammering pegs in). The air filled poles are brilliant as well, they flex in windy weather and are dead easy to inflate/deflate. A big thumbs up from someone who has been putting up awnings and tents of varying sizes and designs for the best part of 45 years now. Really easy to pack away as well, and light.

One small gripe.
why are the storage bags too small.
When the awnings come off the production line they must go through a vacuum mangle machine to compress them up for the bag.
After much effort spread between the dining room and lounge I finally squashed it in the bag.
Surely this shouldn't be such an arduous task?

After you have done it a few times you will find the easy way to do it ;)

I fold the sides into the middle and then the front half over onto the roof section, then fold the remaining roof section over on top of what's left making sure that it's a smaller width than the bag, then fold it over a few times and compress it gently ( rest your body weight on it ) then fold the other end over onto the compressed part, open bag and slide it in ..... zip it up ....sorted :p

Many thanks Your Wiseness
That's roughly how I did it but indoors is always harder. I should have taken down the Town Hall, loads of room.
The Izzy is up in the loft and the Kampa is now destined for two weeks away in snow at Christmas :p I've re read your notes and the instructions and hopefully get it up properly this time. :)

Used our Swift air 260, up at Hutton le Hole, earlier this year quite a big slope front / rear and found it to be ok, and another time in Radnage, Bella Vista, cl site, West Wycombe, left side high and again all ok. Found it to be good in wind and rain, see how it fairs up in the snow. And it goes back in the bag, with the pump as well.

Has anybody tried an air awning yet on a sloping or uneven pitch? Are they adjustable?

Hello Woodlands Camper.
I have the Kampa 260 one of the first edition.
I think for my needs it is absolutely perfect.
However to get to your point. I did find very early that when pitching on sloping ground and I have only done this where the level slopes upwards away from the caravan. The rear of the awning does not fit well to the side of the caravan.
The particular case where I discovered this, the gap at the bottom edge was about 4-5 inches.
With a traditional frame this could have been adjusted to a degree by shortening the front poles but the air poles don't have this facility.
It didn't cause me any problems though, the weather was good I wasn't using the awning for sleeping just really for sitting out and additional storage. So unless they have been changed my particular style of awning does have issues on ground that isn't reasonably level.

Having said this though and knowing the issues I still immediately sold my other framed awnings after returning home from my first trip with the Kampa. Having vowed never to struggle again with poles.
Best regards Brian

Only just picked up on this post, however all good news for me as I purchased Kampa Railly Air Pro 200 at the recent show in the NEC. I have not used it yet, but will do so at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough, over the New Year period, in whatever weather we end up with, I now do so with renewed confidence.

Don't worry if it leaks ..... most new awnings do ....

The awning is sewn together with a special waterproof sewing thread. This thread swells when wet to fill the needle holes but thread needs to become wet several times before it is totally effective. This process is known as ‘weathering’.

Just needs plenty of rain to help the process ;)
Click on the picture and listen :eek:hmy:

A lot depends on the lay of the land and the height of your awning rail as they are designed to fit from 235cms to 250cms if your awning rail is at the lower end and the pitch slopes upwards and away from you, due to the design and the fixed length of the legs it will be awkward to get it to seal against the van body, to get round this you can use a pair of ramps to lift the van up ;) but ideally a flat or forward sloping pitch makes it a lot easier to get a good fit....

Not sure what you mean, Sproket, on my Sunncamp Air 260, there are no fixed length of legs, there aren't any, i peg the side padded sections, slightly back under the van and they seal very nicely against the caravan sides. You can add extra down poles if required ,but as yet never needed them.

It sounds as you have only ever pitched on flat level ground.

WC, please reread my last post reply to your question, my Suncamp has been fine on uneven pitches, slopping fore and aft and Port and Starboard, with good sealing of the end pads.

Do you have any pics of the sloping site?
My Kampa legs are not adjustable for obvious reasons. The Izzy could be tricked on a slope but if you do the same with the Kampa the roof tension will be out of sink.

Dusty maybe we should go to our own thread for combined topics, :cheer:
Sorry no photos, next time out, before chrimbo maybe. The Sunncamp air, LEG, starts from the opening of the rear door , slopping about 45° forward and over the top of the front door and back to the lowerpoint at the front of the fwd door. Does that make sense. The back pads go below the caravan side by about 6 inches with bungee cords to peg down, Anyway it does work well on slopping ground. Honest. :cheer:
Hutch.
