Hi

Clear silicone is the best and I would suggest the Thetford version as it leaves no residue and keeps the seals supple. There are many alternatives but I know this works very well. The only other two I can suggest is Silicone DX which is used in the motor trade and supplied by a company called Brown Brothers which is part of the Unipart Group. This is the same as the Thetford spray but you get 3 times the amount for the price but it has a slightly sented smell which can be a little overpowering in the van.The other is a spray that leaves a powdered residue which is ideal for window seals on vehicles but this will not lubricate the seals.

Hi,

I use Armorall which can also be used on the car dash, and plastic trim. I also use it on the tyres to reduce the effect of UV/sunlight. For the window seals I just wet a cloth in Armorall and wipe them around. I do it twice per year.

Hi I replaced all the seals around my windows when I was doing some major renovation work. I discovered that if your van has the grey seals then these break down much more quickly and stick to the polycarb causing it to break. If your seals are of the older grey variety then replace them with the more durable black stuff. A little expensive but much less than replacing broken units.

My grey stuff was sticking horrendously now I have no problems at all. Did the job about 18 months ago.
