Did anybody listen to the Ken Bruce show on Radio 2 this morning?
I didn't catch all of it by my o/h said that a a letter was read out in which the servicing of a touring caravan mentioned.
Ken Bruce apparently replied that he didn't realise that tourers had to be serviced, he said on air that he thought that one could just kick the tyres and everything would be ok.
A bit later a female co-presenter, it might even have been the traffic announcer, said that she thought that passengers were allowed to ride inside a caravan when it was being towed down the motorway! :woohoo:
Thousands of caravanners regularly listen to radio 2 but the level of contempt and ignorance about a pastime indulged in by a significant part of Ken Bruce's audience is truly staggering!
The mis-information spread by a national radio station which could affect safety on the roads is a worry

Don't worry about them Parksy. They don' have proper jobs and they have no Iin depth knowledge about anything . Although years ago ,in my youth, I used to listen to Wogan, I used to get fed up with hearing these announcers coming out with their off the cuff remarks that had no basis of truth and yet, in many cases could reflect directly upon some poor individuals livelihood . some favourites were jibes at the catering at the BBC or the quality of drinks from the vending machines there. Cheap laughs from over paid disc jocks!

I suggest we set up an interview between him and 'our' Martin. Maybe they could discuss caravan electrics and rechargeable batteries!!

I don't listen to the radio much these days, partly because I get fed up with all the ill-informed rubbish these presenters and their colleagues come out with. However, I was incensed reading your piece about Ken Bruce's comments, Parksy.

I really think someone should write to the BBC and ask for someone to speak to the radio audience to dispel some of the, frankly, dangerous myths these idiots have been coming out with on air. The caravan industry and us caravanners get bashed enough as it is, c/o Jeremy Clarkson & Co., largely through intolerance but also through ignorance. It's time we stood up for what we all love! It's not just our hobby that's involved here, it's the thousands of jobs dependent on the caravan and tourist industry which need our support. Anyone agree?
