Kia Sedona - do they last well?

I live in France but spend a fair amount of time in UK. Thinking about buying a good used UK caravan and a used (cheap) car to tow it with. Both to be kept in UK. On the face of it, a Sedona would be a good choice, especially as they seem cheap for what you get. But, are they reliable after 5-7 years/100-150000 miles?

I am surprised there have been no replies to this topic.
All I can say is my Sedona is a 2004 and has only had one failure of a mechanical part, the solenoid on the starter motor, easily replaced by a local electronics business.

I did neglect to check the oil level for a while but clever Kia have a fail safe built in, lackof oil,,,car will not start,,,,cannot seize the engine!!
Other than that, as long as they are looked after they seem to be bomb proof.

Probably wish i hadnt said that tomorrow!!!

You had more luck than me, i had a 2006 Sedona (last of the old shape). It spent more time in the dealer than it did with me, in the end Kia gave me full retail value against a replacement car. It used to eat one of it's control units leading to loss of all accessory power, not very good if it happened at night as it meant i had no lights!
Also, the CRDI is notorious for its weak fuel pump, a ticking time bomb.

I have had three Sedonas an 03 05 and an 08,plate and they were bought for the purpose of towing T/A caravans without having to resort to a 4x4 and I have never had a moments bother with them and found them to be totally reliable.

Thanks for the feedback. Did you notice any sigificant improvement in power/power delivery between the old 144bhp motor and the 08 motor with 185bhp. I must say that I am well and truly satisfied with my current Kia - a Carens 2.0 CRDI. Absolutely faultless to the point of being boring!

Had a 2006 sedona for the last 3 years and have had no problems at all. Towed all over the UK and France. Just sold it and bought a 6 month old Sedona. Its a 2.2 so a bit more economical but we both love the Sedona
