Has anybody who tows with a Kia Sportage experienced the engine missing when accelerating in slow traffic - mine does but my dealer reckons there is nothing wrong with it?

I've got the same problem with mine, a flat spot at about 1200/1400 RPM. Been back to the dealers but they can't seem to pinpoint it. It's due back in shortly so they can have another go but reading the Kia owners forum I'm not holding my breath. Lots of owners report the problem and very few have had it cured.

I don't have a Sportage but do have a Carens with the same 2.0 CRDi engine, I have noticed this once or twice. It's kind of like a slight hesitation when accelerating, I have only had this whilst solo though and never when towing.

I've suffered similar issues with my Hyundai Santa fe 2.0 diesel which I belive to be the same engine, as it's omly happened once or twice I just put it down to a moments blip, next time I service it I'll be checking for loose connections on the injectors and the like

Kia Sportage flat spot @ 1500rpm.
Have recently had the EGR valve replaced on my Kia Sportage & fingers crossed the early signs are the problem has gone away.
My Sportage has had numerous trips to the garage with the usual "computer says no" result. I did some research myself by typing in 'Kia Sportage flat spot' into Tinternet and went back to the garage and suggested they contact Kia as others were also experiencing this flat spot at around 1500rpm when pulling away at junctions or in slow moving traffic. Also the flat spot seemed to improve when I had the aircon running.
Anyway to cut a long story short, apparently the fault doesn't show up on the normal diagnostic checks, the garage carried out some other checks to try and recreate/identify the fault and here we are a new EGR valve and no flat spot.

Hope this helps & good luck.

My Sportage is back in the dealers at the moment. They initially said they couldn't find any fault but due to my "persistence" (to put it politely) they have now ordered a new EGR valve. Hopefully it will give the same result as bobb had.
