kia sportage

any opinons on the kia sportage, have been thinking of a nearly new 2.0 crdi i think the tow limit is 1600kgs,i know the kia sorrento is a firm favorite on this site but i think its a bit big for everyday use any comments welcome h.

Hi h

We've had a 2.0 crdi XS since May 07. We're really pleased with it. I think it's about 1782kg curb weight so obviously gives you tow limit of 1500kgs roughly at 85%. We tow a Pageant Burgundy which is 1400kg and it pulls really well. I really fancied a Sorento but fuel and emissions edged me to the Sportage. Like I say though we're really pleased up to press.

We recently bought a nearly new 2.0 crdi xs and it tows like a dream. We used it this weekend in Norfolk for the first time and despite the snow had no problems at all. Our van is an Adria 502 Dk and it's max load is 1200kgs so we didn't really know it was there. We want to look at running it now on Biodiesel.

Hi sma65

I would have a look in the handbook before you try biodiesel, according to my handbook it's a complete no, no. That's on the 2007 model. Also watch what oil you use as well, I've now had it from various sources that the Kia diesels are quite sophisticated engines and the only oil to meet requirements is Castrol Magnetec Professional C3. Mine wanted barely a cupful in after 8,500 miles but I've had to bite the bullet and buy the above.

I had a serious look at the new sportage to replace my Shogun.

It would need to pull my Virginia at 1.5t and I had every confidence that it would do so, didn't do the deal in the end as the cost of change was just too much.

It certainly ticked all the boxes for me though and incidentally I was drawn to the car because I know someone with the old model which has been used and abused for about 6 years without a hint of trouble except a new battery!

I've had a Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi for just under a year now and have found it to be excellent at towing our Bailey Pageant Bretagne. You get a lot of kit for the money especially as the Sportage now has a 7 year warranty as standard.

Mine will be having it's first service in about 400 miles time and will cost

Hi,

3 yaers ago when we were looking to replace our Disco we looked at the Sportage but then it only had a 100-110 hp engine, and Kia had fallen into the same trap that Nissan had in the X trail. So we bought a Sorento which has been great and totally trouble free. However the Sportage with 138bhp motor would have been our choice had it been available. Now they have a 7 year warranty too.
