Kitchen sink taps only work when bathroom shower tap is on ....

That sounds like the Micro Switch in the kitchen tap or it's wiring has failed.
If you remove the connectors from the switch, connect them together to see if that turns on the pump, if it does, that would point to the switch being faulty, depending upon the tap, the switch may be available as a spare part.

hi joe, ye i think nick was right , it will be a microswitch on ther tap, ive changed a few and they are only around £2 each .

I've had exactly the same problem - almost certainly the microswitch. Open the faulty tap and nothing happens; open the other tap and THAT microswitch turns on the pump and water now flows through both taps.

I think the price of a new microswitch will depend on the tap - a microswitch for my Reich taps is around £13!!!

Although not difficult, they can be fiddly to fit too. I did my kitchen one a few weeks ago and the connection eas almost impossible to see - let alone reach! If I'd taken the cooker out it would have been a lot easier.

When I did the bathroom one, a year or two ago, I cut and soldered the replacement somewhere I could reach.

Micro switch it is. Had the same problem two weeks back. Reich micro paid £3.99 each bought two, Little shop in Mablethorpe
