We want to have the Knee Roll removed from our caravan seats. They seem to be the norm these days - Who dreams the items up ? Can anyone advise on an Upholstery firm where this can be done within 50 miles of Grantham, Lincs ?
Might I suggest rather than trying to remove the knee roll form your existing cushions, which I think could be moderately expensive, it might be cheaper to have some new cushions made to your specification, and storing the originals, so when you come to sell, you can sell it with the originals
Hi Hovis.
Are you removing the knee rolls because they make the night time bed uncomfortable?
There are a few regular upholstery advertisers in the PCV magazine. I'm sure they will give a quote.
The Prof makes a good point. If you go ahead with your modification you could reduce the caravans future value.

Hi Hovis1. Removing the Knee Rolls is not as simple as you might think. Yes,they can be sliced off of the interior but the fitted covers will have been patterned up/prototyped to templates so as to accommodate the Knee Roll/Bolster at the front of the seat. It will involve undoing and refitting the covers. That is more time costly than making new from a revised template.
Depending on the make of caravan and the specialist company that made the cushions it could actually prove to be detrimental to the sitting comfort. The bolster is often integral with the front wrap-over edge of the interior and especially if it has a sprung interior as a core.
