Kompas camping Belgium

Emailed kompas camping in Oudenaarde Belgium to enquire about pricing/booking for 2011, received a rather ambiguous reply that the site would be closing in November 2010, I replied to the email and asked if they were closing permanently or if this was just the normal winter shut down but so far have had no reply. Anyone know what the score is with Kompas camping?

There are 3 Kompass campsites in Belgium. Looking at their website it does appear that the one in Oudenaarde is closing down permanently as from the 11th November, leaving only the other two in Nieuwpoort and Westende, because only the latter reference prices for 2011.

Don't know when in 2011 you are going to Belgium but haver a look at the ACSI Camping Card website you may find something there. www.campingcard.co.uk We try to only use ACSI sites especially out of season as they have alwasy proved to be good some 3,4,and 5 star.

Just got back from Neiuwpoort, a very, very large site. Loads of permanent vans, full of begiums ( obvisously ) ended up there with kids, good park but wouldn't return Not really for our kids. Everthing closed on Aug 31. ..... As it did on the other site we were on (val de Bonnal at nearly £47 pn)

We noticed they are devoloping Neiuwpoort a lot. We left site Friday and it was full then of weekenders with their bikes...... fit people but not for us. For 5 days after saying hello/good moring etc we gave up totally. They must be the most unsociable /long faced / miserable people there are in there little country....

Sorry to hear of your experience in Nieuwpoort, Smiley. We stopped over there for one night on our way to the UK a few weeks ago and found the people there quite friendly. Without asking, the neighbours came over when we arrived to see if they could help while I was having a bit of trouble unhitching.

Maybe it was because we were there late, the pitches were 10 a penny.... overall holiday wasn't very good.

We now have to find if we can get a new charger for the van.... as it broke on the 3rd day in. .
