Hi all

We are going to Germany in September and are planning to end up in Southern Germany around Lake Constance. Has anyone been there and do you have any recomended sites? On the way down we aim to stop in the Black Forest for a couple of days so any info on this area also appriciated.

Thanks in advance

We stayed here on a recent trip to Germany http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/park_camping__lindau_am_see.htm

and if you are looking for a nice site in the Black Forest this is a good site http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/terrassencamping_herbolzheim.htm The two site are about 130 miles apart.

Hi David - in 1976 we stayed at both those sites. We'd shared the hire of a campervan with friends, and drove through Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, and eventually into Czechoslovakia, whilst it was still under travel restrictions. I thought Lindau, and Lake Constance, was very beautiful - and I'm off now to look at your pictures!

I am not really sure. Many years ago I did see a sign saying no but the situation could well have changed. As with other countries in Europe Germany is well geared up for motorhomes stopping over night. Where did you want to stop, perhaps I could suggest a campsite.

Are you allowed to park up overnight on German services stations on the autobahns?

Theoretically no, but the powers that be will not take any action in the case of one overnight stop if you state that you were too tired to drive on. Their reasoning: Safety takes priority over any ban on overnight parking.

Whenever I try to view any of these photo sites I can't get them. What am I doing wrong?
Unfortunately this site does not accept clicable links unless you enter extra code! If you copy the link and paste it into the address bar of your browser it should work that way.
