we stayed at Caravan Club site at Dockray Meadow which is about 10 miles west of Buttermere.

Very quiet and loads of red squirrels to watch. No toilets or showers, but does have a drying room which we used every day - it was very wet and windy when we were there!

If you are a CC site member there is a good CL in Cockermouth (Cumbria) called "The Beeches" in Vicarage Lane. EHU, Shower, WC and TC ariels already erected on hardstandings. It is not too easy to find but is off the road to Buttermere (Lorton Road)which is about 10 miles away and has stunning views over the Buttermere & Lorton Fells. I have used this site many times when visiting my family in Cockermouth and hope to be there again in May en route to Scotland.
