Lake Garda - Without booking ?

Looking to squeeze 10 days in lake Garda in the first two weeks of August this year. I've checked with a couple of campsites and most will not accept bookings for anything less that 2 weeks. I was planning on just winging it as there are quite a number of caravan sites in this area. Has anyone else tried this? Or am I off my rocker for even contemplating the idea?

Hi there Richard

We have been to Garda a few times and have met people who have not booked a site. This is fine if you can cope with a small or difficult pitch. Many of the sites around the lake are small and have small pitches. If you have a large outfit then you may have problems. Possiibly go and try and if not lucky move onto the coast at Venice........You will find a place there.

Hi Richard, we have been twice to the campsite at bottom of lake, each time not booking.We only stayed couple of day's before moving off south, however each time it was almost in identical spot right up near the fence overlooking the lake. Our opinion is that to us it looks like shanty town,they looked at us as if we came from Mars and nobody seemed to be parked the same way. Sorry could not be more helpful.

Hi Richard,we usually tick all the sites we have been to but it seems the one i mentioned was not ,however i am pretty sure it was Eurocamping Pacengo.
