i'm thinking of buying a laptop instead of a tv as it seems more versatile and if I buy a small flat screen tv with digital built in its only about £150 more for a laptop. The question is with the laptop set up to view tv will it then be digital or will I still need a digibox?

hi paul

daniel is right in his assesment,

I use a notebook as a tv and its fine personally I prefer it to the alternatives after all it's a tv, dvd player, radio, games machine, and on sites with broadband there's the internet accsess and web tv as well.

you will need a tv card of some kind but make sure its a digital one with freeview as analouge tv will be switched off soon.

I use a dvb-t usb stick

Sounds about right. You won't need anything like a top spec machine. Also bear in mind that you can probably pick up an analogue card as well quite cheap nowadays, for when you are where there is no digital signal.
