Largest Fixed Bed? Is there such a carvan with a large/kingsize fixed bed?

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if you know which caravans have the largest fixed beds? At the moment we have a Bailey Senator Indiana S5 2006/7 with a fixed bed but finding it a bit of a squeeze and with the cut off bit being annoying. Hubby wants to move away from a fixed bed to a 'make up' lounge bed but I am not keen. With that in mind and me looking for a perfect set up (doubt there is such a thing) does anyone know if there are any 2010/2011 caravans with large fixed beds.

There is only 3 of us my husband,me and our 7 year old. Ideally a large van.

best wishes

Now that 2.5m wide caravans are legal in the UK there should be something that meets your needs with one of those wider-bodied models.

When were at the NEC in October we joined the crowd having a look at the Roma caravans, Huge fixed island bed. But very large van with a large price tag. Also not my taste in decor. Do you have an island bed now? If not would this be the answer?

The UK companies are very slow on the uptake of the new rules regarding the increase in width of caravans,I had a German TEC weltbummler T/A caravan a few years ago which had a brilliant fixed bed that was larger than any of the uk vans.

Try the Adria 642UP (or whatever this year's equivalent is). It has two single beds at the rear of the caravan. I believe they are the industry's widest singles at 2ft 8". They are on runners and push together and are secured there by two bolts and a strap and make a bed that is 5ft 4" wide. I scoured the market as we were so fed up with being squahed into a bed so much smaller than our bed at home. Our Adria has the widest we could find; the bed is almost super kingsize. That's why we bought one!

I cannot fathom why caravan manufacturers' double fixed beds rarely even reach 4ft 6" in width and frequently less and still they have the cheek to describe them as "Double". It is also strange that Adria don't make more of it. We were lucky to make the discovery and I thank Sharon at Southwater Caravans for being so alert to our requirements.
