Le Mans to La Rochelle area

Just been on the Michelan website and it is showing 2 different routes, one via Angers and the other via Tours. Has any one been this way who can offer advice.

The Tours route seems to have more motorway, but is a bit further.

Going via Tours is only about 30 extra but with motorways would be quicker but extra tolls as well, both routes are good
