whilst on holiday in august the water pump socket was leaking water outside all the time thesubmersible pump was running. now im back home i thought i would investigate the problem. ive replaced the seals on the pump male water inlet post on the side socket, ive also removed the 4 screws which retain the male post to find what i think is a rubber daiphragm and micro switch inc spring, unfortunately all the the parts fell on the floor on removal, i think i have refitted them all correctly but now the water still leaks externally but it also drips now from the back of the wall socket into the bed box.Do you think i need to replace all the seals ?. I have a 1995 swift challenger 530se

Hi John,

I tsounds to me more likely that the housing itself is split/cracked and if so will need replacing. I can think of no other way the water will be getting out on the inside of the van unless the joint with the pipe is not tight, check teh jubilee clip is tight but not over tight.

thanks for your help alanw, after taking all the wall socket apart & refitting eveything again i eventually traced the problem down to the submersible pump, i unscrewed the wall socket end to find the water tube had become detached, poss caused by pulling on the tube to remove it from the side of the caravan when refilling with water. The only problem ive seem to have inherrited now is the pump keeps running when the taps are turned off

Hi John,

Assuming the taps are original they will have microswitches in them, one of these has probably jammed open or broken. When you have found how to access the micro switches it's a matter of checking each one until you find the dodgy one(s).

Good luck

thanks alan, i'll take a look tomorrow, i just read the fault finding section in the caravan manual and it mentions about adusting the pressure switch (i seem to remember turning it when trying to rectify the original fault), i'll also take a look at that tomorrow
