So I changed my battery today and was playing with the light's in the van.
Have in total 11 lights dotted around the van.
Always Thought two were powered by mains and the other nine by battery on 12 volt
Wrong............................
The other 9 are also powered by mains and or 12 volt.
Only took me 9 years plus to work that out.

Not with you Kev? Do you mean they work on your 12 volt transformer whether you have the battery fitted or not, most vans if not all have 12 v lights....... not 240
 
In my caravan , I think we only have one light, in the center at the front of the ceiling, that is 240/ mains powered, all the rest are 12 volt, but I will double check the next time I get the van at home. Whenever that will be.

No sorry Sir Gabs the 9 don't work without the battery in situ but they do work with the 240 only.
Hope that explains it better.

That's what I thought Hutch (but having two) check it out you may be surprised.
 
I am almost sure, 🤔, as when we were in St Andrews and were Off grid, the only time we have done that, I told Elaine not to have all the lights on as she would need battery power if she wanted a shower in the morning.,
In the front we have the 4 angle lights, then the ceiling lights that dim, and the under cupboard lights, one each side 2 angle lamps above the bed headboard then the toilet bathroom shower lights.
More than I realise, and the floor light near the bed.
Wait for tomorrows breifing , might see the caravan then.
 
I am wondering if your 12 volt power supply from your main power unit has gone U/S and your 12 volts lights are only working when you have the battery fitted and when you have mains connected. Charging the battery circuit, then powering the lights.
 
in our caravan i think we only have one light in the centre at the front of ceiling that 240 /mains all the rest are on 12volt but i can check it when we are at the caravan storage

However if no mains, the 9 lights will still work, but 2 will not. If they work on 240 shows that the transformer is still okay.
 
The simple way to determine they types of lights you have, is to make sure the battery is charged and connected in the caravan, disconnect the EHU so the caravan is powered only by the battery. Any lights that work must be 12V. (unless any have blown)
 
Not sure how many lights we have, it was switching them on in the front that fooled me. The ceiling lights and more round the skylight are controlled by two switches hidden behind one of the spotlights and took some finding. Another set round the mirror in the bathroom also have a switch that is not that obvious. We were shown how it all works when we got the caravan so may be that bit did not register.

And of course vice -versa, disconnect battery, plug in mains and in my case find 9 lights (+2) work on the mains.
