Leaving windows on vent whilst in storage

Your caravan floor is more than adequately vented, and there will be vents at high level also (around the roof lights in modern 'vans). From a security point of view your 'van is just as accessible with the windows locked, but I don't think its necessary to leave them open for ventilation.

Hi Lisa

We have never left our 'van windows on latches during storage. Neither have we had any trouble with air circulation. As said previously there are lots of air vents dotted around so there should be no problems.

Hello LMH,

Not withstanding mcghee's comment and implication that shut caravan windows are not a significant improvement in security over a widow set on ventilator, I venture to suggest that your insurance company would take a different view.

Provided the ventilation grills are kept clear so that air can freely flow in and out, then there should be no need to leave windows partially open.

If you do find that damp is a problem, then it could suggest that you have water ingress somewhere.
