This is a rarely used Insurance Cover. Most people don’t know they have it and if they do , they don’t appreciate the scope,of cover.

My own Insurer , Aviva, issue monthly bulletins explaining what is covered and how to claim!

This little extract is just an example. You must check your own policy first before deciding what to do.

With the ever increasing caravan failures Legal Expenses Insurances may be of benefit to some. Most , not all , Caravan Insurance r policies also include Legal Expenses cover.

Thanks that’s useful. I have it from LV for the cars, and also have one being a member of Boundless. Fortunately I have not had to draw on one but I will have a read through them to refresh my memory of what’s covered. Although a friend of mine ignored my advice to use Which Legal Services for a motorhome damp dispute and used his householder policy legal helpline. Result was it took him outside of CRA2015 and eventually had to settle for a no liability without prejudice token offer from the dealership. No where near the £10k spent on damp repairs.

Do you think he would have got the whole claim paid under CRA?

I thought CRA made it easier but irrespective of the financial limitations I wonder why a lesser level of legal liability was achieved by his solicitor 🤔

His problem is once he gets an idea in to his head it’s immutable. He was a first time motorhome owner aged late 60s just post Covid and they loved it. Emotionally he could not come to terms with having the dealership take it back and refund him. Then having to find another MH. Although the dealership rejected that and his legal advice did not push him hard enough. I think they were pushing towards a Small Claims Court route after he had it repaired on us own initiative. But he then had to be rushed from Bristol Heart Hospital to St Bart’s for an emergency multiple bypass operation whilst having Covid. So all in all he wisely decided to put it behind him and get on with life. He’s shortly off to Scotland for 4 weeks then Cornwall for 4 weeks. The repairs carried bout by the Somerset caravan motorhome repairer are working well.

That’s a very sad story 😢

When we attempted to use our Legal Expenses cover, they were totally useless on Consumer Law. At the time, I knew very little about consumer law. If we had taken their advice and the advice from the CAMC we would have been out of pocket several thousand pound. Which Legal Services was our saviour.

In my opinion I think most law firms specialise in certain subjects and are experts in those fields, but in others, not so good which is why we no longer take out Legal expenses cover however we are members of Which Legal Services and get all the info we need from them.
