My wife and i are looking at buying a Abbey Spectrum 540 twin axle caravan but i have read that the maximum towing limit is 7 metres, however the Spectrum is 7.95 meters. would this mean that i am breaking the law? i have a LWB Shogun does this make any difference?

The legal limit applies to the caravan body only and doesn't include the drawbar (stange!!!) so you are okay.

Hi Peter. We tow a Spectrum 540 with a Kia Sedona. You are OK with the length. Max width is 7'6" and that is OK too. We love the van. Only problem is the weight, it drinks diesel even with the Sedona weighing 2000 kg and having 2.9 TD engine. The ffixed bed is comfortable and the wash room is brilliant.

Go for it.

The limit of 7.00m applies to the length of the caravan EXCLUDING coupling and drawbar. If you go over this figure you will need a towcar with a GVW of 3500kg or more (in practice, this will mean quite a large van).
