legalty of sat nav camera POI's in germany/switzerland

I know its illegal to have camera POI's on the sat nav BUT if I have other country's camera POI's but not swiss or germany is it still illegal to use it in these countrys?

I wish to travel via germany & switzerland to Italy & do not wish to remove french/Italian ect ect from the unit

If the police find that you have POI,s on your sat nav and they catch you they will take it from you and stamp on it. Then give you one hell of a fine. There not as soft as British police.

Mere purchase and/or ownership of radar detectors is not illegal in Germany. However, their use is. Sat navs with camera POI's do not detect, but only inform, so therefore they may be used legally. This does not apply to Switzerland where the camera POI function must be switched off.

Lutz this is the problem,the camera POI's cannot be switched off,only deleted I have deleted swiss & german camera POi's but retained franceItaly ect ect What I want to find out is it still illegal to use in germany& switzerland????

On my TomTom unit I can just deactivate the POI function, but be that as it may, it is not illegal to retain and make use of camera POI's in Germany. I presume that so long as the Swiss camera POI's are deleted, you should not have any problems in Switzerland.

Re switching off POI's, my720 has a list of POI;s which you can switch on /off. But the camera's are not on that list so I can't find any way of switching them off Have emailed tomtom & they say that save contents to your computer then go to content of unit delete selected poi's from unit

You're right, Tony. I overlooked that. Regardless, Germany isn't a problem, Switzerland would be.

my apology's to all for my misleading statements. I have had another reply from tom tom. To isolate camera's. go into T/T service,s(main menu,page 3) select safety camera's & select disable alerts (remove red cross).simple when you know how.
