I am in the process of changing my leisure battery and after searching different suppliers i have found a elecsol 110 amp battery with 5 year guarantee for £105 . i would like to know if i need to have a special charger fitted in my 2006 spectrum and if anybody has had any dealings with this battery?

From eveything I have read on several forums, the guarantee seems to be not worth the money involved.

I had one of these and it cells failed after 2 years, I phoned them and they were not very helpful, they want full reports etc so I went back to the place I brought it from and they changed it.new one seems a good battery.
And I would buy another but make sure you buy it local so if you have any problems you can go back.
I have had one now for 5 years and it still holds nearly as much charge now as it did when new. It has also been used to start the Sorento when its own battery failed. I take it out of the van when we are not touring and it is then hooked up to a CTEK charger.
I bought ot due to its compact size for the capacity. Although I guess other quality batteries have no become more power dense too.

I've had an Elecsol 110Ahr battery for over two years now and no problems - it's a snug fit in the battery box of my Bailey California. Would recommend the use of clip-on style of connectors - cost about
I know this is a horribly old tread, but I've been looking at some leisure batteries with 110 amps made by Diamond. The ones I'm looking at are £85.99, but with one year warranty as opposed to 5 - just wondering if that would be a problem? Do leisure batteries fail often?

All lead-acid batteries have a "design life" - starting at 500 cycles of 50% discharge for leisure batteries - that rating can be translated to 1000 cycles of 25% discharge but not the other way so you won't get 250 cycles at 100% discharge.J-Nevil said:
Better batteries, invariably more expensive, will have better figures for cycles and discharge level - if no figures are quoted, it won't be as good as 500 @ 50%.
