Any 'smart' charger should do the job. Noco and Ctec seem to have the best reputation but they are at the pricier end of available options. At the other end the Lidl and Aldi offerings are fairly well regarded. Personally I was using an Optimate, only because I had one from my motorcycling days when the bike sat in the garage for most of winter. I've recently bought a small solar panel that I sit in the skylight, it's only 25 watt so I'm waiting to see if it will be enough during winter months.

Where will the battery be? At home or in the van? Will power be available?

If you have the van at home, I would use a small smart charger. The ones from Aldi or Lidl's come recommended. I think these are OK to be left on, but I would set a phone reminder for say once per fortnight. And just keep it topped up.

Hi John,

The caravan will be living in storage away from the home

Mine is stored on a farm off grid, no solar panel. I remove the expensive Leisure battery and install our 8 year old Kia battery. Not gone flat over three months . But then we do caravan all year round
