Leisure battery

Just reading through various topics and read that if a leisure battery is run flat it is never the same again.Could somebody elaborate for me on this point.

I have an intellegent charger that i use for my battery so will this recondition the battery or is the damage irreversible.

If a leisure battery is left in a discharged condition, it will finally reach a condition where even a prolonged recharge will not return to its optimum condition. However it could take a week to bring a fully drained battery back to being useable. So it is worth a patient try. If successful avoid a full drain in future

Should the acid reading be OK but the voltage reading low then it is most probably a failed battery cell and hence a new battery is needed
