The experience of hurting my back whilst moving a traditional awning into and out of the car have led us to think about a smaller porch type for the quick weekends away. Any advice about types and things to watch out for would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Hi Kate

I would avoid the PDQ porch awning at all costs. There is a lengthy debate about this somewhere and the overall feeling was the same. The bag leaks and the quality isn't good. No doubt someone will say the opposite, but that's my opinion anyway ! :)

Kate

I have just bought a Outdoor Revolution 2007 EasiPorch I used it last weekend for the first time for a trip to Oxford which was a very wet and windy for 5 nights it was easy to put up and very light it did not let any water in at all and seemed very sturdy in the wind I went for this one as it had metal poles.

I was going to buy one with the flexi poles but after a weekend in york in april there where a couple of these types on site which had poles break in the wind I hope this helps

Hi Kate.

We have just bought the Outdoor Revolution Tech-lite 1. We have used it twice now including last bank holiday weekend in heavy rain and strong winds and it was fine, no leaks and it was very stable. It takes about half hour to put up, there is only one alloy pole that creates the shape, it weighs just over 8kg, it comes with all the pegs and storm straps and when it's rolled up it stays on the van. It's also big enough to sit inside if the weather is'nt great.

Here is the link to their web site.

Hope this helps.

Phil.
