I am planning to buy a 'lightweight' easy erect porch awning for occasional use. Riversway Leisure have a Porch Plus 2007 at a cost of £109, (flyer in CC mag), has anyone any opinions on this porch - good or bad please. Featured in the flyer is a Starcamp Magnum 260, any views on this also?

Or is there a better product out there somewhere?

Many thanks Tony

If the porch plus is anything like the scenic plus which is a dome design then I would steer well clear. The dome design is a pain in the rain as when you open the door to gain access the water cascades down and soaks everything inside. Also you can't put anything in front of the door which means 1/3rd of the awning is unusable and for such a small awning makes it very impracticle. My scenic plus also leaks like a seive along the seams. Try looking at the Ultima 260 or 390 depending on the length of your van as these have a vertical door entry at the ends and much more usable space. I will be getting one when funds allow and binning my scenic plus.

Hello Nick

Sorry to hear you are having such trouble with your Scenic Plus awning. I must admit the first time it rained we did get a little 'light drizzle' through the canvas but not anymore. It has stayed dry since. Nor do we have trouble with pooling water in the roof line. It has also stood up well to strong winds and a terrific thunderstorm when not only did it suffer hail but also torrential rain.

There have been several threads on this awning and almost all of the comments were good.

I am very pleased with ours. Ideal for the weekend away.
