lightweight porch awnings

Hi!

We want to buy a lightweight (quick & easy to erect) porch awning, so that for weekends away we've got somewhere to store the bin, kids' shoes etc, rather than having the palaver of putting up the full awning.

However, when we recently called into the dealer that we bought our van from, we were told that due to our van being "vertically challenged", none of the lightweight porch awnings that are becoming popular would fit!

As I wasn't aware of my van being particularly "low slung" - it's a 2000 Avondale Osprey , and according to the handbook is 2.67m (8'9" in old money) - I was rather baffled by this.

Surely there must be people out there with short vans like mine, who are successfully using lightweigh porch awnings?

Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hi Andrea.

Have look at the foloowing link:

It takes about 30 mins. to put up, there is only one pole, it stays in the bag on the side of the caravan, it is very light, just over 8kg and there is plenty of room to store all of your bits and pieces, take your shoes off and sit in there if the weather is a bit naff.

Hope this helps.

Phil.
