Hi,

going on a long trip tomorrow and was wondering whether you find it better to carry awning, water hog etc in car or caravan?

Hello Chris.

The placement of such items is rather down to personal needs, space and of course the weight limits you have to work to.

Personally I put all the items you mention in the caravan.

I find that I'm always a bit tight for payload in the caravan so most of the heavy stuff has to go into the car. Besides, it has the added advantage of improving the actual weight ratio.

Thanks guys,

think I'll start off with the heavy stuff in the car (seats down so well forward) and see how it goes. It'll be nice to have the van empty for the overnighters en route,

with my partiuclar van I find I need to put as much stuff at the back of the van as possible in order to get the nose weigh / balance of the van right. but as already suggested this will vary from van to van.

On a long journey we use the caravan for quick loo breaks and for lunch/ longer breaks. It helps if we can get to the loo and to things like the fridge & cupboards without moving heavy gear. So, awning tends to go in the car. Water & waste containers are in bags and they travel on the bed.
