Hi Jenny and Stephen. I live in Portrush so when you're both up round this neck of the woods I really have to recommend a meal at The Harbour Bistro in Portrush. Food is excellent, prices very good. Juniper Hill will be lovely if you get the weather stephen. Guaranteed sea view. Lovely!

Hi emmy

We were in Juniper Hill at the weekend, right at the roadside, great views but noisey.Gails aunt and uncle were up for the weekend,we even managed a bbq on sat night.

Our next planned outing is Mullynascarthy in Lisnaskea at the end of july. Checked it out the last weekend we were down there, nice site, good facilities and 2 mins out of the town. What about yourselves?

Hi again Stephen. Our next big adventure will be taking us across the Irish Sea! We're taking the belfast-Liverpool ferry at the start of july and heading to Prestatyn, North Wales for a week and then heading round to Winsford, Cheshire for another week. Only been across the sea once with the van before, to Scotland last year. Hope the weather is good. I've heard north wales is supposed to be lovely - colwyn bay area should have plenty to keep us entertained. We're staying on a Haven site, so our wee boy should be kept well busy! By contrast the week booked in Cheshire is at a private rural site , perfect for a relaxing chill out after the madness of Haven!! Have you been down round that part of the world? Any recommendations while I'm there? Any tips on keeping a toddler entertained on a six hour ferry journey!!?

Hello Dundalk calling, not quite the north but very nearly! really enjoying this thread. We spend alot of our weekends up north, Kilbroney been the favourite. Took a spin to Gosford last night after reading about it here, very nice indeed.

We are just back from 2 glorious weeks in Yorkshire and Haven in Blackpool. Did haven in Wales last year U will love it. If its presthaven sands then touring park quite far from entertainment but thats maybe not a bad thing!

We have 4 kids under 7 and paid a visit to Sainsburys for a selection of sticker books that kept them all occupied on the ferry for a while.

Enjoy ur trip..

Hi Brenda. Nice to hear from someone else this side of the irish sea. Yes its presthaven we're going to. Not a bad thing that we're away from the entertainment, especially at 2am when folks are staggering out of the bars!

Hi again Brenda. Did you sail on the Belfast-liverpool ferry with Norfolkline? What was it like? Do you have to be there two hours before sailing or anything like that? Or did you take the dublin-holyhead option? Thanks Emmy.

Hi Brenda, nice to hear from someone south of the country. You will be able to tell us all the good sites around your area. Last year we visited Wicklow for a week stayed at Redcross Village, we had a great time its a lovely site and a good base to use for touring around.

Have to say good on you for holidaying with 4 kids under 7, it must be fun.

Hope you and your family have many happy caravaning holidays.

Many Regards Jenny

Hi again folks, Emmy we went Dublin holyhead only have to be there half hour before but dont know bout norfolkline. R u doin through the night sail?

We are going to the apple farm in tipperary next weekend so will let you how it goes. We too love redcross though I must say it really bores me that anywhere you want to go in the south seems to involve 2 toll charges and still horrendous traffic!

Have any of you been to the Hillsborough site Lakeside I think, we went few weeks back but didnt stay, seemed bleak even in summer and nobody there?

Hello all, I haven't been on here in a while and it is a pleasant surprise to find a thread about Irish sites. I was interested to read the comments on Castle Archdale as it is somewhere we were thinking of going to during the summer. Our last trip was to Glenmore, between Ballycastle and Ballintoy, nice site, great location, obviously it helped that the sun was out. Next time out to Kilbroney, which I must admit I don't know a lot about, any thoughts?

Welcome to the Norn Iron thread. I would avoid castle archdale in the summer, better to go to loanedens and drive in for a look around.Sorry i can't help you with kilbroney, but maybe some of the others can.

What part of the country are you from?

Can you recommend any good sites or tell us the ones to avoid.

Hi,

Thanks for nod on Castle Archdale and Kilbroney, a good kids playground is always good news. We have always tended to go the north coast and have always found Tullans Farm and Bush hard to beat. Ballyness was excellent but we have kids and dogs and I always get the impression they don't really like those things there, noisy and messy. As I said in my previous post Glenmore was excellent, facilities above average but the location was brilliant. Another park I am keen to find out about is Lazy BJs outside Newcastle, apparently great location in behind sand dunes but rubbish facilites, does anyone know anything?

Hi Paul welcome to the site, We live close to Kilbroney and it is a lovely site, the walk up to the Big Stone is breath taking and i mean that in both sense of the word (breath taking) if you walk from the caravan site you will find out what i mean. I agree with Brenda make sure your brakes are working if you are unlucky like we have been on a few occassions you will need them.

Hope you have a great time.

Many regards Jenny

my other half and i love the north antrim coast. we were fortunate when we started caravanning our first outing was to David McKenzie s site at Ballybogey Road. Portrush. In big sites book under Ballymacrea. Very friendly and helpful. kids play area. Our first weekend was pretty much a disaster like putting our knee through the supports for our front double bed. and spending the night on the two single sofas. while the young and much smaller nieces had the back double and slept very comfy. Oh how we learn from our mistakes. (fortunately having the young ones with us turned all our rows sorry friendly disagreements into a real laugh) But I guess thats for another forum. Might be a laugh all our first outings. Another beautiful site is the rock newcastle. absolutely stunning views and again very friendly and helpful. Just 2 loos with small wash hand basins. but sure what else do we need. an ideal hide away and a small tea room attached to the adjoining picnic site. The rock review was recently in the June issue of caravan magazine. Enjoying the craic on our own wee site here !!!
