Did you strike a good pose like a Greek god? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I missed that, but I will not edit it now.

That’s a useful link. I haven’t heard of Next Door before. I have used Trash Nothing, Freegle and Freecycle to dispose of things and vice Versa.

Nextdoor is mainly for local gossip and information. Although it is national, and I think international. You restrict your audience to your local area.

I signed up to Nextdoor, as it suggested it was going to be local and about local issues, but I did not realise "local" was so big! Then as the numbers of members grew, we began to see idiots who seemed intent on upsetting as many people as they could just for the sake of it, and the far too numerous pointless notifications, virtually no useful "local" content. The only reason I kept the app was one (comparatively) local who posted some beautiful photographs of local wild life. Even he was recieving abusive comments, and when he gave up I also removed the app.

Come to think of it we received an invitation for something like that when we moved into this house in April 2019, but reading the blurb it did not do anything for me. Mind you I even cancelled FB, and rarely go on Twitter except too "sound off" to a misperforming company, and LinkedIn to track down people!!

When I was selling the tyres on FB marketplace I got the usual a courier will collect and pay you. A quick check on the courier company showed it was a scam.
Thanks for the tip. She has been selling stuff locally for me for quite a while with no problems, but scammers are continually changing tactics.

I agree. Lots of rubbish and gossip. but I think you can adjust your personal postal areas in the settings.

I was recently impressed when a woman wrote that she was frightened to take the dog out because there were some nasty threatening youths around. (Since dealt with I believe). She had a number of volunteers to escort her for evening walks.

You may be correct about limiting the area, and there have been some positives with good outcomes, but even within my more local posts, there is so much inane chatter that has no interest to me. It's was more of an annoyance to find my inbox full of items of no value, it was wasting time having to manage it.

For many of the same reasons I don't use other social media platforms, but I detest even more the way some platforms don't take you back to the page you came from when you use the back button, and you get adverts bombing into view where you have to wait for them to play out and display the end button before you can get rid of them.

I agree with most of that.
