Locks for Geist Phantom

Bought a second hand Geist Phantom (2007). Issues with the locks - to garage, gas locker, other lockers. They simply don't always lock - where there are two locks I am lucky if I can get one to lock. I am spending lots of time fiddling with them.

So, what are my options?

Can I replace all locks?

Replace the barrels (easily)?

Buy a product to fit as an additional lock?

I am not particularly handy with tools etc so need an easy solution.

Regards

Having studied on-line photos of 2007 Geist Phantom motorhomes, it looks like the locks fitted to the locker doors may be made by ZADI . These locks are commonly used on motorhomes and come in several designs as the results of this GOOGLE-search will show:

The ZADI catalogue can be viewed here

As will be seen from this advert

http://www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/zadi_locks.htm
it is possible to obtain complete replacement ZADI locks, or ‘body-only’ locks to which existing lock-barrels can be transferred, or new barrels that can be fitted to existing lock bodies.

A suitable tool will be needed to remove/replace a ZADI lock-barrel as shown on this video-clip

(I’ve never done it, but the principle seems straightforward.)

It’s worth saying that the ‘push in’ action of these locks can be reluctant to engage even when the locks are new, but as your motohome’s locks are 12 years old, they will inevitably have suffered some wear by now.

You might try lubricating the locks’ insides - I use this product

It might improve the locking action (and should not worsen it) but it won’t revitalise a worn-out lock.

External security locking devices are marketed by Fiamma, Mlienco, etc, (examples here)

http://www.milenco.com/products/security/recreational-vehicle-door-locks
but you’d still need a little DIY aptitude to fit them (and they look ugly!)
