Hi

We had a bit of a disaster a Halloween.

We went to stroke city for the weekend. It was brilliant. Recommend it. But the van had issues.

We got back on Halloween night and (A little drunk I'll admit) really struggled to get the door open.

I tried it again in the morning, just in case it was a beer induced fail, but the door lock refused to lock again. Fully broken.

Then, when we were getting ready to leave the key snapped off in the toilet locker keyhole!

I had to hammer the hinges out with a barbecue skewer so that we could empty the container!

So I need a replacement door and toilet locker locks.

I've looked online but its not easy to figure out which lock to get so if anyone has already been down this road and can offer some advice i would really appreciate it.

The van is a 1994 Mirage 500/5

Cheers.

Does the door handle/lock have a manufacturers name on it? If not could you post photos of inside and outside.

Also a photo of toilet locker lock. Or look here

A long time since we had a Mirage but the lock went on that. Went to nearest dealer and they supplied one of the shelf. For what it costs I would just buy one as I doubt your insurance will pay up if you have left the door unlocked to wait for a parcel delivered.
As for the the toilet not sure but think this is the outside door you mean, I cannot remember what we had but I would think it might be a Thetford part, I would contact a Coachman dealer. If it is Coachman part then you will need a dealer to get it.

Hi Folks

Its been a while but I've only just resolved this in the last few weeks.

I now have a comprehensive understanding of the various locking systems on our van.

The solution in the end was to buy a bag of lock barrels and replace them all!

I couldn't get a replacement key because there were no meaningful markings on the key or barrel.

I tried a few different options before buying the barrels though. I bought a couple of complete locks with fittings and all. One for the door and one for the battery locker. The door one was fine and was not expensive but the one for the battery locker -- while it looked like the right part in the photo -- was just slightly the wrong shape. So i ended up taking the barrel from the battery locker one and using it in the old fitting.

So after all the faffing about i eventually decided to just replace all the barrels and have some extra keys cut!

Thanks for all your replies. I learned a lot from this one.

Now on to my next issue. How to secure the ends of our new (Second Hand) awning!

P.S. I was drinking Hop House 13. While i can't recommend most of what I've detailed in this post I'd definitely recommend that stuff!
